Market season is starting soon or has started for most of our region. Lets see some pics of your market setup. What do you find works well? What don’t you like?
We make lots of changes every year with the biggest change we make is how to deal with signs around the massive inventory we bring in coolers. This year I built a sign board with shelf label holders to hold all the signs. When an item sells out we just pop it off the board. So far it is working well.
A second change we did this year were the benches for the coolers. The health department at a new market required all food holding containers to be 12’ off the ground so we did this and I love it. So much nicer working a standing level than bending over digging in coolers. We will be doing this at all our markets this year.
I will defiantly share our outdoor set up after our first market in June. This will be our first full summer season at 2 Markets as we just started going to a year round Market in August of 2024. I am diligently working on a cold keep meat frozen display box so I don’t have to repeat this year with just coolers on tables. I don’t sell anything else so I don’t have the lip balm, honey, veg, etc shelf stable products to draw the customer in visually.
I would absolutely apricate seeing other meat vendors Outdoor Market Setups to fuel my creativity if my meat display box doesn’t come to fruition before June 7th.
I am working on both a Dry Ice or Phase Change Material Market Display Box Setup to keep meat Frozen and at the bare minimum below 38 degrees but also on display with out electricity for our outdoor rain or shine markets.
I played around with something like this 3 years ago using a hotel tray and some ice sheets with a plexiglass lid. This worked okay but turns out my stand was in direct sunlight so it became a little solar oven. I can’t find a picture of it now on display but here it was testing.
