Hi, I’ve asked around before but haven’t figured this out yet. I’m looking for farm insurance that will cover selling poultry that has been processed on farm under the 1,000 bird exemption. Does anyone do this or know who will insure for this? We are a small homestead in the northeast corner of CT and just want to sell a few extra broilers. Thank you.

I have had great success with Paradiso Insurance on all things farm related. Russ over there specializes in farms and could probably point you in the right direction. However I don’t know if they can insure it or not.

I would second Nick’s point - I processed chickens on farm under state inspection for over a decade in MA and had a hard time getting insured with a state issued license. I can’t imagine any insurance company covering unlicensed slaughter, but good luck!
