Has anyone been following this in the news? The screw worm was a pest in the western US that did millions in damage to the livestock industry prior to 1975. Its thought of as a problem for cattle but does not discriminate between livestock species, mammals anyway (humans can be infected as well). There was an outbreak in Florida in the 80s. Has the screw worm ever been an issue here in the northeast and how do you think its presence in the US, if becomes a chronic problem here again, will impact the northeast?
