Looking for solid ideas on minimal impact movable water stations. I am NOT looking for permanent installation. This is for remote offsite grazing.
The clear 275 gallon totes get algae from the sun. Would simple painting the outside or tarping help?
Any other ideas? Pictures are a bonus.

Hopefully one of the other producers has an idea that has worked for them!
Your situation is six of one, half a dozen of the other really.
My suggestion would be to try and keep the clear tub in the shade as much as possible since algae needs sunlight and warm temperatures to grow. You could use a shade cloth if need be. With a clear tub, it’s going to allow more sunlight in, however if you paint it black that may help keep the temperature warm??
Interested to hear any other suggestions
Folks have used barley straw for algae control in ponds, has anyone used it in a trough before?
Yes, it is used. (barley straw). A “bundle” about the size of your fore-arm will work for a long time. A whole grazing season? or possibly multiple years. Another solution, and DON”T USE FOR SHEEP OR GOATS, is copper sulfate. Bare copper wire or also, copper pennies will work.
